Workshops
| The ECFRS Workshops are located just outside Colchester in
Lexden and is home to all of the Service's spare appliances as well as any new appliances
that have not been allocated. The Workshops also maintain the heavy commercial vehicles
for Essex Police. As well as maintaining all of the appliances used by ECFRS, the team
based there also carry out maintenance on other fire appliances (such as Sizewell Nuclear
Power Plant's vehicles) and reconditioning older vehicles for resale. Another development for the location is the construction of a dedicated urban search and rescue (USAR) facility that is home to the five New Dimension Prime Movers that are were allocated to Southend-on-Sea Fire Station. |
